This is for you Tianna
Well, I promised my sister Tianna that I would start blogging so that she can keep up with Evan and how he is growing up, so here it goes. I thought I would give a little update on our family. I'll start with Garrett.
GARRETT: He just started what is going to be a very crazy semester. He is taking 19 credits! We are only in the third week of school and it is already insane. Between work, school, and homework I hardly see him. He is doing awesome though. He is usually a procrastinator as far as school goes and puts everything off until about an hour before it's due, but so far this semester has been different. I'm so proud of him. Hopefully it doesn't get too crazy and he can keep it up and stay ahead. If everything goes as planned he will be getting his AS degree here at Dixie after this semester and then his BA in English a year later.
He doesn't have a lot of free time but if he does he usually plays with Evan, watches the Jazz play, or plays Scrabble with me. He is so good at those kind of games but I am proud to say that I have beaten him once!
EVAN: I don't even know what to say about Evan other than he is the cutest little boy ever! He is so fun to hang out with. He is so smiley! He has the cutest, biggest smile. He has started laughing and I can't get enough of it. We do a lot of tummy time, which he hates, but last night he almost rolled over. He got all the way on his side but got stuck and I had to push him over. But it's a start right? He doesn't have any interest in his toys right now. I am constantly trying to force him to play with his rattle but he doesn't care about it one bit. I'll put it in his hand but he will just throw it to the side. I just keep trying though.. he's going to like it one day.
He has become a pretty good sleeper. We go through our bedtime routine of bath, eat, read, pray and sing, then I put him in his crib and he falls asleep on his own and most of the time, sleeps through the night. I'm very lucky. He is such a good boy.
He also LOVES to eat and is getting pretty chunky. We don't go back to the Dr. for another month so I'm not positive but I think he probably weighs about 13 lbs now. He is getting to be a big boy and he is so much fun to have around!
ME: Well, I'm not very exciting. I am a mom and that is about it. I have kind of started scrap booking. I decided that I wasn't going to try to make them super cute but just get the pictures on a page. I would love to make them cute because I really enjoy doing that kind of thing but I knew that wouldn't be realistic. And lets face it, Evan is not going to care what it looks like 10 years from now.
I got released as the piano player in the primary because it was impossible to do with Evan, so now I don't have a calling. I was kind of excited because I really missed going to Relief Society but I still don't really get to go. I am out in the halls pretty much all through church. Apparently Evan doesn't like church so much. He makes it through sacrament meeting pretty good but thats it. Hopefully it gets better soon.
Well that's about it for me. I'll post some pictures of Evan now because I know that's what everyone really wants to see.

And a Baby Makes Three
Okay, I'll tell it like it really happened. Taleesa was a week passed her due date. She looked like a lollipop that had slid half way down the stick, but still a very gorgeous lollipop. Who knows what kind of pains she was dealing with, well besides women. I had my own stresses to deal with. Is he going to come out at all? And if he does, will he look like me? Will he have arms and legs? What if he was another elephant man?
Taleesa and I woke Saturday morning, waiting and waiting for the call from the hospital. We waited all morning trying to finish the last season of Seinfeld that we had received as a wedding present. Even Kramer couldn't help us pass the time. Finally, we drove into town stopping at Applebee's for lunch. Right after we ordered we got the call. We got our lunch to go, and putted on down the road.
At first, it was just us two, and there was a silence that filled the room. The tension stung my ears. We had talked about this before, but now that we were here, and in the room it was different. We talked about if there happened to be a Jazz game on the night she went into labor, and if we would be able to watch it, even muted would be okay. Ah, it was just the Clippers, I thought as I looked at her in that gown.
She was quiet, and gentle, and soft, but strong. She looked like she knew what she was getting into while I had no idea. She looked beautiful, lying on the bed quietly, like an old woman slumbering waiting to meet God, waiting for God to deliver our son.
Time seemed steady, not too quick, or too slow. The Jazz were getting punished most of the night, and finally came back to tie at the end of the fourth quarter. One overtime, no baby. I'd go and adjust Taleesa's legs. They were numb from the epidural. She could feel one on top of the other, and would ask me to move them. At the end of a second overtime, the Jazz had been victorious, and now it was time.
Our room had been packed quickly after we arrived. Everyone was ushered out. Taleesa's body was ready, and I think she was too. The two of us were left alone for about half an hour. We said a prayer, asking God to watch out for Taleesa, and our baby boy. Then, the nurses returned, and got set. I went out and invited any of the girls that wanted to come in while trying to remind them of the lack of seating. I was followed by seven or eight ladies who all piled onto the couch. Peanuts were passed back and forth along with "I remember's" as Taleesa started going into labor.
He's great, and Taleesa is great, and I'm happy to be a part of what it is that they've got going on.

I don't care what nobody says, we gonna have a baby

It's official: I'm out of retirement. And we're also having a baby! A boy. He doesn't have a name yet. Well, he does, but we're not going to tell you just yet. He is due October 30th. I'm hoping he comes a little sooner, so that we can paint a mustache on him and take him trick-or-treating.
Taleesa is still looking super hot, but she does have quite the bumpage. She has just recently been awarded an Associate Degree in Science from the Dixie State College. It is on the fridge awaiting a beautiful wooden frame.
So, Mr. Baby will be born to partly educated parents. I've been in negotiations with professors all over the state of Utah trying to land me at various schools.
Right now I'd say the frontrunner is BYU. I told them I'm not shaving everyday, and I like to run in short shorts, and they said if I can get my grades up they'll think about it. I told them that I'll think about it.
I made it through summer school and a full load of work. Taleesa and I were able to sneak out to Yellowstone with another couple. I'll have her post some pictures. It was beautiful and it made me feel like Wordsworth--don't worry that wasn't meant for you.

I'm sorry, I'm exhausted from writing, I'll have to ease back into it. I thank you all, it's good to be back. You guys make it so hard to stay away. Bless you.

Hey everyone! I know it has been a long time and you have all probably given up on me ever blogging but I'm determined to start. Well... here is a little update on what's going on in our life. Garrett and I are still going to school here at Dixie. Garrett has decided to go into English and as for me, I still have the dream of becoming a dental hygienist but it is just currently on hold right now (ps.. don't ask me about it or I will cry).
As far as church goes.. Garrett is the second counselor in the young men's and I play the piano in the primary. We love our ward and have really enjoyed our callings so far.
Garrett is still obsested with the Jazz. We are extremely busy with work and school. But life is good... it's really good.
Well.. I guess that's about it for now. Here are some old pictures from Valentines Day and some from our adventures in babysitting Leo.

The Times They Are A-Changin'

This one goes out to all the faithful followers of The Faylor's Blog, those who have bled, cried, and wept alongside me in my reign as defender of truth, and the trump for all things pertaining to the blessed union of Taleesa and I. I regret to inform you that this will be the last of my bloggetry. America's economy has met a Humpty Dumptyian fate, Matt Harpring can't help the Utah Jazz defense, research papers have stolen my soul, and socialism is knocking on the door. Michael Jackson is gone, and I see no one other than Mitt Romney who will stand and fight for America's right. What I'm saying is that my efforts, much to the chagrin of countless cult followers, are needed elsewhere. I've decided that I should make a difference in the world. I don't know where to start, but entertaining the masses with pictures, and wallpaper is more a part of my wife's superheroism than mine. I thank you for your devotion, and I pray that you show the new author of this blog the same kindness you have showered me with. We'll meet again.

My Wife
I started out writing about the St. George Marathon, and how great that was, as it always is, and how I was thankful for my lovely little nieces and their collaboration of poster board and chocolate, crafted with a little help from their friends, and all the support of my family both new and old.
I've thought of parables related to the gospel about running, training, and preparation, but as I was looking at pictures to post I kept running across pictures of my wife, and that turned me on to another much more important topic. Many months ago, I sat in my bishop's office, a scared and foolish young man. I knew I loved her, but I didn't know how I could make things work out with money, jobs, buying a ring, and all the other discouragments brought on by fear of the future. My bishop told me something to the effect of, the minute you marry this young woman, your life will be blessed far beyond that which you ever could imagine. I have and always will remember that conversation. I took that idea, and held tight to it.
We've been married so little a time, but that statement is ever so evident. This young woman helps me each day to be a better man. She never fails to lift us when we sink for even a moment. The things of most importance in this life are the most dear to her. She loves the gospel, her family, and the Lord, and it shows in all that she does.
Without her I could not have ran this marathon. She sacrificed time all year long to allow me to run and train because it was important to me. She has been there for massages, dinners, five a.m. rides to drop me off for runs, and has even ran many miles alongside me when others bailed on me.
The way that she has supported me through this marathon is the same way she supports me in everything I do. She gives her all all of the time. She is a magnificent woman and I'm thankful for her. I apologize to all those who will be grossed out with this post, next time I'll write about heavy metal, or the World Series.
